Producer Jeanne Bavaro has placed her classic dinner shows in a couple dining locations around Las Vegas before; however, the Italian La Scala Restaurant nestled in the Mark 1 Tower at 1020 E. Desert Inn appears to be a perfect match for her exceptional entertainers and audience.

Her company BavaroETC (Exclusive Talent Concepts) in conjunction with La Scala’s Chef Roberto Perotti are producing a summer Sunday series that began on June 14 with singer Teddy Davey of the Las Vegas Tenors accompanied by the incomparable Tommy Deering, who produces full-orchestra sounds on his keyboard. They will return on June 28 for two shows and seatings at 4 and 7 p.m.

Singer songstress Denise Clemente will perform on July 12 and 19 and do two shows each night. She has been a local’s favorite since the late 1970s. The talent will vary and select their musician(s). Since the series is themed To Italy with Love, performers will include something Italian and Davey led the way by occasionally singing in Italian.

The whole evening package priced at $50 including tax and tip is more than reasonable. Upon arriving and checking in, you have your picture taking with two showgirls, which is Bavaro’s welcome trademark. After the greeting, guests are offered their choice of a glass of champagne or wine to enjoy at the bar or on the decorated Italian-style patio.

Moving into the linen-tabled, intimate and cozy Italian-themed, dining room that seats about 60, you prepare to enjoy a gourmet dinner with friends. The fresh bread and salad are divine followed by a quality combination entrée that will vary each month keeping repeat customers in mind. There’s plenty of wait staff so you feel comfortable.

After serving dessert, the hour performance begins on a small confined raised stage that is conducive to impromptu interaction with the audience like when Davey invited two ladies to dance on stage while he sang “Route 66.” The talent selection and menu for August will be announced at a later date. Call 367-9805 for more information and reservations.

And note, that a few days after you’ve enjoyed the evening, your photo will arrive via e-mail so you get a nice feeling all over again. Smile.
